Navy Vietnam Veteran
Dear George:
As a contemporary of yours, and as a Navy Vietnam Veteran, I must share with you something we active duty folks knew back then.
There were three types of Navy duty that required huge cajones:
- Navy SEALS
- Jet aircrews flying missions over North Vietnam
- River boat sailors.
John Kerry served in one of the most demanding combat environments.
That he was wounded three times reflects that he was one of a small elite force who served by facing enemy fire in small aluminum boats to support the ground troops, and to interdict Viet Cong arms runners.
Disagree with the fact, if you will, that he returned to work to get our troops out of the hell in which he honorably served, but don't make light of his service.
Make what you want of your own record, but when you disrespect Kerry's service, you disrespect veterans.
Clinton may have evaded the draft, but he was honest about it, and didn't disrespect those who kept to their convictions and served.
If Kerry claims he has medals, he has the right.
He earned them.
So did your dad.
